Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a slow moving meditation sequence of motions that allows you to experience being in the present moment. Warm up in class with one hour of Qi Gong, the ancient exercises focusing on breath and movement. Follow with 30 minutes of Inner Chi Form, a Chein Mein Ching form.

Beginners are welcome! Each class is a mix of abilities and ages. The forms can be adapted to encompass all physical limitations. Classes are held live and over Zoom.

Come experience the relaxation response, feel the stress melt away, and create better health. With awareness comes change!

Craniosacral Balance

The balance and alignment of the bones of the head and the triangular shaped bone at the base of the spine (tailbone) creates wellbeing.

Craniosacral Therapy releases those tensions to allow the entire body to relax and self-correct by freeing the central nervous system to perform at its best. Using a gentle touch — starting with about the weight of a nickel — practitioners evaluate your internal environment. Then they use distinctive light-touch techniques to release any restrictions they find.

Eliminate pain and stress, and strengthen your resistance to disease.

When I was young, I injured my knee while in ballet class. I found it very difficult to regain strength in that joint, so my physical therapist suggested Tai Chi as a way to gain muscle without overstressing the joint. Unfortunately, It took several years for me to find an instructor who understands injuries and is willing to modify the class.

Laura and I first met at work (we were both educators) and became friends. Through our daily conversations, I discovered she taught Tai Chi. There was something about her that told me she was the right instructor for me. I joined her class and loved it. She can read the energies of everyone in the class and help people modify the form as needed. She is kind, considerate, compassionate, and knowledgeable. She knows when to push her students and hold them back (even when the student disagrees). Several years after I started in her class, I ended up with a concussion. I could not sequence and needed healing help. She worked on me with my Chiropractor, yes, at the same time for several sessions and with my acupuncturist. Because of her skill and willingness to help others heal, my concussion symptoms decreased quickly, allowing me to function again sooner than was expected by my doctor.

During my recovery, I was able to return to the Tai Chi class, my knowledge of the steps for the form was there, but I had no memory of the order, which was incredibly frustrating. I wanted to relearn everything at once but Laura kindly yet firmly told me not to take on any more. When I would try to push myself too hard, her teacher’s voice would come out, and I knew to be kind to myself and stop pushing too hard. Every week she would give me a little more until I had returned to my former self. She is a healer and a teacher.

I am a client of her healing practice, a student of her Tai Chi class, and I consider her my friend.
